You may have heard about the law of attraction. Essentially, it’s the belief that when you ask the universe for what you want and work towards that goal everyday, your dreams will become a reality. Sound too good to be true? Well let’s be honest, there’s never an easy road to the top. While manifestation has proven to be extremely powerful and many people swear by it’s success, life will inevitably throw you curveballs along the way. That’s why we talked with Taylor Sangiorgio, the founder of online fashion boutique Dusted Rose, about the importance of holding onto your vision during those difficult times.
Without knowing it, Taylor has actually been manifesting since she was 8 years old. “For as long as I can remember, I always knew that I was going to run my own clothing brand one day.” Focussed, driven, and determined, the Southern California native began working in the fashion industry at an early age. If you’ve ever been to Balboa Island in Newport, you may have stumbled across a charming little boutique known as Isabelle’s Cabinet. As a 15-year-old employee there, Taylor was responsible for everything from merchandising and styling, to customer service and inventory management. She learned a lot from the 4-year experience. Especially that “Working in fashion is long hours and is very hands on...you have to commit your life to it.” But being close to the flame only fueled her fire more. While studying Fashion Merchandising at California State Long Beach, Taylor worked for several other retail stores and completed a design internship that prepared her for the challenges she would face next.
After working towards her dream for years, Taylor decided it was time for a nou beginning. Dusted Rose, a brand name Taylor had registered since 2017, was finally going to launch as a business in March, 2020. Little did she know that month would go down in infamy. When COVID-19 hit the United States, Taylor had just finished ordering her inventory, shooting her first campaign, and developing her website. As people began to lose their jobs and loved ones, Taylor knew she had to postpone the launch. She definitely didn’t “manifest” this unfortunate turn of events. Feeling hopelessly low at the time, Taylor admits “There was a part of me that wondered if this was a sign that I’m not supposed to do this… but then I realized that I’ve waited for this moment for over 14 years, so if I needed to wait a couple more months that would be ok. I just couldn’t give up on my dream.” In July 2020, Dusted Rose finally launched. The nou beginning Taylor had visualized since she was 8-years-old was now a reality.
Fast forward to today and Dusted Rose has quickly become a thriving success. Taylor spends her work weeks doing what she loves most—shopping for the hottest trends, photographing new styles for her social media accounts, and fulfilling orders from her online store. Her mission is to help girls feel confident in themselves because she believes that “Wearing a good outfit can change your entire day.” Taylor is only 23 years and admits she still has a lot to learn, but she wants other aspiring entrepreneurs to know that starting a business won’t always be glamorous. “It’s exhausting, there’s never enough hours in the day, sleep is questionable, you’ll have to give up your financial freedom for a while, and there will always be people who want to see you fail—but you have to remember why you did it in the first place.” Essentially, hold onto your vision during those difficult times. For Taylor, Dusted Rose is the result of a lifetime of manifestation, and she’s “never wanted anything more.”
Nowadays, practicing manifestation has become vital to Taylor’s daily routine like eating and breathing. Every morning before the Dusted Rose CEO gets out of bed, she writes in her gratitude journal. First, she lists three things she’s grateful for (her health, her family, her friends, etc). Then, she writes three things she’s “advanced grateful” for as if they have already happened. For example, “Dusted Rose is the most successful online fashion boutique in California.” This easy 5-minute ritual is one of many ways you too can practice mindfulness and visualization to achieve your goals. Other methods include creating a vision board, repeating positive affirmations, or in Jim Carrey’s case...writing a 10 million dollar check to your future self. However, in order for the law of attraction to work, you have to work. Nothing will ever be handed to you on a silver platter, and it’s important to not get thrown off track when life changes. But if you’re prepared to go the distance, don’t be afraid to tell the universe what you want... because it’s always listening.
